Method

  1. Heat oven to 180°C/160°C Fan/350°F/gas 4.
  2. Place potatoes in a pot with enough cold water to cover them and bring to boil.
  3. Turn down heat and simmer gently until potatoes are soft.
  4. Drain the water. Add milk, butter and mash well. Set aside for later.
  5. Melt half the butter in a pan on medium heat.
  6. Add onions, celery, carrots and garlic and cook for 5 minutes until soft.
  7. Increase heat to high and add minced beef, stirring until well browned.
  8. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  9. Add the chicken stock, tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, and peas.
  10. Bring to the boil then reduce heat and simmer for 5 - 7 minutes.
  11. Place mince mixture into ovenproof dish and top with mashed potato.
  12. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden on top.
